Our philosophy has always been to work within our communities to create opportunity where it may not have existed previously, to lend a helping hand to those less fortunate as well as to help find cures where they may not currently exist.
To this end we invest both our time and resources and encourage our clients to do likewise. We believe it our obligation to leave a footprint for others to follow so we may better serve our fellow citizens less fortunate than ourselves.
ALS, Lou Gehrigs Disease: http://webba.alsa.orglou gehrig insurance
What is ALS? Many people know Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) as Lou Gehrig’s disease, named after the famous baseball player who got the illness and had to retire in 1939 because of it. ALS is a disease that affects the nerve cells, called motor neurons, which make muscles work in both the upper and lower parts of the body. This disease makes the nerve cells stop working and die. The nerves lose the ability to trigger specific muscles, which causes the muscles to become weak and leads to paralysis.
That is the clinical definition. The afflicted are subject to the slow loss of motor function but their brains are never affected. As their bodies fail them their mind is intact, the worst torture imaginable. We dedicate our passion for this cause to the memory of Dr. Gary Pence. “The bravest of the brave”.
No one knows what causes most cases of ALS. Scientists have been studying many factors that could be linked with ALS, such as heredity and environmental exposures. Other scientists have looked at diet or injury. No cause has been found for most cases of ALS. In the future, scientists may find that many factors together cause ALS.
